The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is a program in Nigeria that requires graduates to serve the nation for one year.

During this period, corps members may apply for relocation due to various reasons such as health, marriage, or security concerns.

However, sometimes, after your relocation is approved relocation, you might encounter a situation known as “Flag Off.”

What is Flag Off?

Flag Off occurs when you apply for relocation after three months into your NYSC service. Once your relocation is approved, you should be able to print your relocation letter.

However, if your account has been flagged off, you will be prevented from printing this letter. This can be quite frustrating, especially if you need to relocate urgently.

How to Resolve Flag Off

If you find yourself in this situation, don’t worry. Here are the steps to resolve it:

  1. Visit Your State NYSC Local Government Secretariat: The first step is to go to your state NYSC local government secretariat. This is where you can get the necessary assistance to resolve the flag off issue.
  2. Get Clearance from Your Local Government Inspector (LGI): At the secretariat, you will need to get clearance from your Local Government Inspector (LGI). The LGI will verify your details and provide the necessary clearance to lift the flag off.

It’s important to act within 21 days after your relocation approval. If you do not resolve the flag off within this period, your relocation will be automatically canceled.
