JAMB Regularization for NYSC, HND & Direct Entry (2024)

Spread the love

JAMB Regularization is a process set by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to rectify any discrepancies in the admission details of students as recorded in the board’s database.

This process is crucial for candidates who have gained admission into tertiary institutions without going through the standard JAMB admission process or whose admission details do not align with JAMB’s records.

Regularization ensures that a student’s academic record is properly documented and recognized by JAMB, which is essential for NYSC mobilization, HND, or Direct Entry applications.

Who Needs JAMB Regularization?

The regularization process is mandatory for several groups of students:

  • Those admitted without a JAMB registration number.
  • Candidates with a JAMB number but whose admission details are not on the JAMB database.
  • Students admitted through direct entry programs such as JUPEB or IJMB. Even though they may not be required to sit for an exam, it is necessary for these students to register with JAMB and submit their details.
  • Part-time students who were admitted without going through JAMB. Admission to part-time programs is typically handled by the university or polytechnic itself. However, to ensure proper recognition and eligibility for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), these students need to undergo JAMB regularization.
  • HND (Higher National Diploma) students who have completed their two-year ND (National Diploma) program in a polytechnic. To have their HND admission recognized by JAMB, they must go through the regularization process. Some schools may require this to be done after completing the HND program, while others may prefer it to be done prior to admission.
  • Students who were offered admission into a different course than the one they initially filled during JAMB registration. If the admission took place from 2017 or earlier, these students need to apply for JAMB regularization. However, from 2018 onwards, they should apply for JAMB change of course instead.
